Safeguarding care in the future
With an eye to future materials, we’ve developed different innovative strategies for dealing with waste that befit each of our products, such as creating new products with recycled content.
We’re collaborating on a pilot project initiated by VinylPlus® Med that sees plastic waste from disposable medical devices in Belgian hospitals collected, cleaned, disinfected and shredded. The chips are transformed into a vinyl film with a high level of recycled content, which Vescom turns into a recycled vinyl wallcovering. The goal of the project – which is currently in the early stages of development – is to make a wallcovering with post-consumer hospital waste that can be used in care institutions in the future.
This initiative is inspiring similar projects at Vescom as we continuously explore how to create more sustainable material solutions and repurpose waste. Dedicated to ongoing development, we’re collaborating with partners to improve our processes and products.
