Lucy brings homelike comfort and recycled content to sound-absorbing sheers

Today’s open spaces demand a delicate balance: the need for natural light and visual connection while managing disruptive noise and maintaining privacy. Vescom’s <a target="_blank" href="/en/solutions/sound-absorption">acoustic sheers</a> dramatically outperform traditional sheer curtains by absorbing five times more sound, making them ideal for balancing connection and separation in today’s open-plan contract environments – offices, conference rooms, hotel lobbies and multifunctional spaces.

Semi-transparent curtain fabric <a href="/en/products/lucy">Lucy</a> takes this technology a step further. Not only does the acoustic sheer (alpha w 0.55) have a much softer look and feel, but it also demonstrates our commitment to continually increasing the amount of recycled content in our material solutions. The key is in the composition. Lucy contains 60% recycled polyester FR bouclé yarn, whose textured grain breaks up the sheen typically associated with acoustic sheers. With the matte look of natural materials, the bouclé yarn adds tactility and homelike comfort, while its distinctive structure creates depth and visual interest when the fabric interacts with light.

Lucy comes in twelve neutral colours – warm tones that offer ultimate versatility for a wide range of interiors. Inspired by building materials associated with the home, such as wood, stone and glass, the palette includes various shades of white as well as a range of greys and soft beiges.

Lucy is visually identical from both sides – a great benefit when lining glass-walled interior rooms to create privacy and intimacy without blocking light. The curtain fabric can span from floor to ceiling thanks to its suitability for railroaded installation, and fulfil all the high-performance demands of the contract market: flame retardancy, colourfastness, functionality and durability.

In today’s digitally oriented world – where we’re surrounded by sleek screens and smooth surfaces – there’s a growing desire to slow down and reconnect with materials that feel human, tactile and imperfectly beautiful. <a target="_blank" href="/en/products/clay">Clay</a> – with the rustic look of traditional hand-plastered wall finishes such as Moroccan tadelakt or Venetian stucco – conjures up images of relaxing holidays in sun-drenched climes. The embossed vinyl wallcovering has echoes of artisanal pottery and ceramics – materials shaped by hand over time. Expressive and unique, Clay is ultra-matte, highly structured and irregular. True to its name, Clay has a palette of warm, sunbaked colours that capture the essence of natural clay surfaces. The 16 earthy, matte hues – ranging from deep green and brushed terracotta to warm ochre – have powdery pigments that could have been dug straight from the ground.

Clay offers a solution that feels good and does good. Marking the next step in our sustainability commitment, Clay is an innovation in vinyl wallcovering, incorporating 30% recycled content. This content originates from the medical industry, a sector facing significant waste challenges. By repurposing post-industrial medical materials, Clay not only promotes waste reuse but also reinforces our dedication to reducing the environmental impact of our material solutions.

A handcrafted look for well-being

Known for the unparalleled softness and cosy, homely feel of its chenille yarn, Fuga is now crafted locally in Vescom’s German weaving mill from 79% recycled polyester FR yarn made from locally sourced post-consumer PET bottles.

The durable fabric continues to offer the comfort and warmth that made it a success while aligning with our commitment to continuously increase the proportion of recycled content in our materials, one of the steps we’re taking to reduce our environmental impact.

The <a target="_blank" href="/en/products/fuga">refreshed Fuga</a> features a wider, more vibrant colour palette, with 39 two-tone blends that add depth and character to any space. Reflecting Vescom’s expertise in combining colours, surprising tones come together in each fabric. Pink mingles with green, gold interplays with purple – these fresh and sometimes bold shades add a bright and relaxed touch to interiors, making them ideal for everything from hotels to workplaces.
