<p>Making is in Vescom’s DNA. It’s the spirit with which the company was founded, and it’s remained ever since. ‘My father had a few principles,’ says CEO Philippe van Esch about Joop van Esch, who founded Vescom in 1971. ‘He wanted to be a manufacturer – to create products. And he had a design-driven philosophy, which wasn’t common at that time. He made creativity and design a distinguishing factor between Vescom and other brands.’</p>

<p>This principle led to a philosophy of interweaving the design and solution of our materials: wallcovering, upholstery and curtain fabrics for the contract market. Driven by innovation and product excellence, our in-house experts understand and can tap into the benefits of each material – whether natural or man-made – to develop material solutions for every interior.</p>

<p>Vescom’s designs are produced in our own production facilities and weaving mills in the Netherlands, Germany and the United States. Having 100% ownership of our production gives us the agency to not only scrutinise everything from our raw materials to our manufacturing methods with a focus on sustainability and wellbeing, but to actually develop, make and distribute eco-conscious interior materials – a crucial factor in providing transparency to our customers.</p>

<p>In today’s busy world, the right materials can transform interiors of any kind into quiet, comfortable and healthy spaces that both feel good and do good. There’s a growing need for alternative interior materials that take a bold step forward in sustainability and durability.</p>

<p>Vescom Purefin is an environmentally friendly wallcovering with the proven performance and durability benefits of hardwearing materials. The olefin-based wallcovering is free of PVC, plasticisers, chlorine, heavy metals, formaldehyde, halogenated fire retardants and phthalates. Produced in the Netherlands in line with Vescom’s holistic approach to sustainability and wellbeing, Vescom Purefin has a reduced carbon footprint, better environmental impact and leads to improved indoor air quality due to its low VOC levels, promoting healthier environments.</p>

<p>This unique material asked for a unique identity. Vescom Purefin wallcovering comes in two embossed designs that have a distinctive natural, chalky, matte look. ‘Undesigned’, not over-designed, <a target="_blank" href="/en/products/concreed">Concreed</a> and <a target="_blank" href="/en/products/lynn">Lynn</a> have an artisanal, hand-crafted appearance. Concreed is rough and rugged yet achieves a peaceful ambience in interiors, while linen-like Lynn is inspired by traditional plant-based weaving materials.</p>

<p>Interior contract materials can contribute profoundly to our comfort, warmth and inspiration – our feelings of wellbeing. But how can they contribute to the wellbeing of the planet?</p>

<p>As makers of materials in today’s challenged world, we’ve undertaken the responsibility to produce in the most conscious way we can. Having our own production facilities gives us the agency to not only scrutinise everything from our raw materials to our manufacturing methods with a focus on sustainability and wellbeing, but to actually develop, make and distribute eco-conscious interior materials.</p>

<p>Producing materials inevitably generates waste. Mirroring Vescom’s approach to materials – letting their individual, innate qualities and properties lead their design – and continuing our longstanding practice of addressing our own waste through reuse, we’ve developed different innovative strategies for dealing with waste that befit each of our materials.</p>

<p>Our focus on high performance and our consistent material-driven DNA have always produced connections between our different product groups – materials, colours and textures recur across Vescom’s wallcovering, upholstery and curtain fabrics. <p>As humans we’re drawn to tactile, aesthetic materials that enhance our experience of space. But in contract interiors, designers and architects have to look beyond aesthetics to a material’s performance, both in terms of regulations and longevity. <h3><strong>A wide range of colours and structures for every space</strong></h3><p>Our extensive vinyl wallcovering collection features a range of colours and designs, allowing walls to blend in or stand out while adding structure and depth.</p>

<h3><strong>Strong and durable</strong> </h3><p>Our durable vinyl wallcovering has a life expectancy of 10 to 15 years, outperforming the likes of paint and glass fibre.</p><h3><strong>Made by makers</strong></h3><p>As makers of materials, we’re constantly exploring how to create more sustainable material solutions, including adopting circular production principles such as continuously increasing the proportion of recycled content in our products.</p>

<h3><strong>A healthy, conscious choice</strong></h3><p>Our vinyl wallcovering is produced in-house using environmentally friendly methods, with low VOC emissions. We use water-based inks, phthalate-free vinyl films, and are part of VinylPlus®, promoting the sustainable production and use of vinyl.</p>

<h3><strong>Easy to clean and disinfect</strong></h3><p>Offering a high level of hygiene in interiors, our vinyl wallcovering can be cleaned with standard household cleaning products and Vescom Cleaner.</p><h3><strong>Disinfectable with alcohol and active chlorine</strong></h3><p>Taking hygiene even further is <a target="_blank" href="/en/solutions/vescom-protect">Vescom Protect</a>, a highly stain-resistant solution that can withstand intensive cleaning and disinfection without losing its beauty.</p>

<h3><strong>Flame retardant and colourfast to light</strong> </h3><p>To meet the strict technical requirements of the global contract market, our wallcovering is tested for its suitability for contract use, including its level of flame retardancy and how well its colours resist fading when exposed to light.</p><h3><strong>Simple to install and easy to repair</strong></h3><p>Our vinyl wallcovering can be easily applied by qualified experts. It requires no drying time and the wallcovering is odourless, so rooms can be used immediately after installation. Thanks to our use of coloured vinyl films as a base, any damage the wallcovering incurs during use will reveal only the coloured film, making nicks and notches far more discreet and therefore much easier to repair.</p>

<h3><strong>Suitable for the cruise industry</strong></h3><p>Our vinyl wallcovering can fulfil the IMO flame retardant standards for the cruise industry.</p><p> </p>
